Day 13, Venice to Florence, October 2nd
Woke in Venice, caught train
for 2 hour train ride to Florence.
Got to Florence and struggled
to find a bus (you buy tickets from convenience stores and can't get then
anywhere else) but finally got to our hostel. Very nice, huge room.
Then headed to Florence.
Went to see the David, which
is HUGE! Did not realize that.
Went to Duomo, which is very
interesting. Outside is ornate an beautiful. Inside is actually
fairly bleak and empty. Climbed up to top of Duomo, long walk but great
view! Very pretty city!
Went to some squares, watches
some people, got some dinner. Walked around, walked on the Ponte Vecchio,
stuff was close.
Went to Piazzale Michelangelo,
a hill overlooking the city at night, then took bus back to hostel. just
spent about 2 hours talking with hostel mates. 2 Australian, 1 Canadian,
1 Brit, 1 Argentinian, 1 Spaniard. Fun conversation. Did you know
that Australians do a several month long vacation?
Anywho,
off to bed, then Piza. G'night!
