Day 6, London to Paris, September 25th


Good day, basically did everything else in London.  Woke up, went on the eye, took pictures.  Went to the Tate modern - underwhelming for me, they only use a fraction of the space despite the building being huge.  Went inside St. Paul's cathedral, very nice.  Then ran over to British Museum to see rest of exhibits.  Got on Eurostar, went through Chunnel to Paris.  Realized we don't speak the language!  We are in a somewhat sketchy area. Got dinner next to an older British couple, had a lovely chat.  Roommates are two nice German girls about our age.  Room's hot.  Going to sleep!

Day 1, Reykjavik, September 20th

Slept about half an hour on plane, then in at 7am but day has gone well!  Had delicious salmon and toast b-fast, then tour bus drove us to hostel to drop off luggage.  Then back on bus to Blue Lagoon.  Very nice, but overrated (to a non-spa goer like me).  Felt salty/sulfuric rest if day.  Back on bus to gulfoss (?), golden waterfall.  Very pretty, had famous lamb stew.  Then off to see the "geysir" also very impressive!  Great tour guide - Iceland is fascinating.  Got Easter island-ed by Vikings, then volcanoes and earthquakes tore place apart.  Great folklore, lots of trolls, a haunted road?  Steam coming up from everywhere.  Not gorgeous, but very interesting views.  Now, with geothermal energy & heating becoming good place!  If they can export electricity, would make bank, but not yet.  Now back in very nice hostel (showered) and off to eat some combination of whale/horse/shark! Day 10, Paris, September 29th

Running out of things to do in Paris, but another easy day because of it. Woke up, had breakfast and said goodbye to our German roommates (they left today).  They headed over to the Musee d'orsee. I've never really liked art museums (or paintings in general), and with my feet hurting, so many art museums seen, and so many to go, I didn't really care for it.  There were some great statues though, and I enjoyed 4 or 5 of the paintings.  I came up with a chant to sustain myself: "Art! Art! Look at all the art! Art is everywhere, Look at all the art!" After the musee, we grabbed lunch.  For pre-lunch I had a lemon juice and sugar crepe, which was one of the best sweet Crepes I have ever had.  Now, to the Tulliers! We crossed over a bridge which had thousands of locks clipped onto it.  The idea is you write you and your lovers' name on the lock, clip it onto the railing, and throw the key in the river.  Great idea...
